MAJOR FIRE ON RIVERSIDE DRIVE IN SALISBURY MARYLAND
Salisbury, MD - A massive fire engulfed a 50x80 pole barn today in the 27000 block of Riverside Drive Ext, in Salisbury, Maryland.
The fire caused an estimated loss of over $125,000. The structure itself has suffered damages accounting to $80,000, while the contents inside have been destroyed to an extent of $45,000.
The morning alarm was raised by the occupant who noticed the fire inside the barn. The Fruitland Volunteer Fire Department was the primary responding agency, and were assisted by many agencies from around Salisbury and Wicomico County, Maryland.
The fire department deployed two alarms and a robust force of 65 firefighters to deal with the blaze. The emergency team had to wrestle with the raging flames for a prolonged time of two hours before successfully bringing it under control.
As per the latest reports, the area of origin of the fire was inside the pole barn.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, as more details on the incident are yet to emerge.
