Ocean City, MD - The Lower Shore Chapter of the Mediocre Golf Association (MGA) is set to officially begin its second season of competition on Saturday, March 29, at the Links at Lighthouse Sound golf course.

The MGA, an international golf league, offers amateur golfers an inclusive platform to compete while adhering to USGA rules. What makes the MGA unique is its modified handicap system.

This system introduces a distinctive twist, where top-performing players with a handicap below 18 are penalized with additional strokes after their rounds. Meanwhile, players with handicaps of 18 or higher compete to achieve their gross score, aligning with the MGA's philosophy that bogey golf is the goal.

The Lower Shore chapter's season consists of eight tournaments held across the Ocean City, Salisbury, and lower Delaware regions. Each event combines spirited competition with camaraderie while providing an accessible opportunity for local golfers to participate.

Registration and Fees

Registration for the Lower Shore MGA season is set at $43.99. Participants then pay separately for each tournament they choose to enter, with costs typically around $100 per round.

This fee covers green fees, cart usage, range balls, and entry into additional contests, including two closest-to-the-pin competitions and a long-drive contest.

Tournament Prizes and Structure

Winners of each tournament will receive custom MGA trophies and a ceremonial "big check." All players in the chapter not only vie for individual tournament victories but also contribute to the collective pursuit of the chapter's world money title.

The season-ending leaderboard is a major highlight among chapter members, fostering ongoing engagement and friendly rivalry.

The Lower Shore MGA encourages aspiring participants to join this growing community of recreational golfers.
