LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS RESPONDS TO CHRISTMAS EVE HOUSE FIRE

West Ocean City, MD - Residents of West Ocean City, Maryland, experienced a significant scare on Christmas Eve. On December 24, 2024, a fire broke out on Tudor Road around 6:30 PM.


Fortunately, all residents were able to evacuate safely before the fire department arrived. The quick response from the Ocean City Fire Department, Berlin Fire Company, and Ocean Pines Fire Company ensured that the situation did not escalate.


Upon their arrival, firefighters observed smoke and flames coming from the rear of the house. Despite their prompt efforts, one firefighter sustained minor injuries during the incident.

Following the event, the Worcester County Fire Marshal's Office conducted an investigation and determined that the fire was accidental, caused by cooking on a deck enclosure.


The Ocean City Fire Department advises community members to maintain updated and effective emergency escape plans. They also emphasize the importance of having working smoke alarms in homes.
