LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS BATTLE A LATE NIGHT DELMAR FIRE

Delmar, MD - A fire broke out on Thursday evening at around 10:42 PM in the 29000 block of Connelly Mill Road, in Delmar, Wicomico County, Maryland.  


The Delmar Volunteer Fire Department responded to the emergency, with a team of 20 local firefighters taking approximately 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire, which originated in the garage, is currently still under investigation.


The estimated monetary losses are substantial, with the structural damage amounting to approximately $50,000, and contents valued at roughly $25,000 lost to the blaze.


Despite the substantial physical loss, the presence of functional smoke alarms within the residence helped alert the homeowners to the fire, allowing them to safely escape. This situation underscores the vital role that smoke alarms play in safeguarding lives.
