Wicomico County, MD - On March 10, at approximately 3:56 p.m., the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, in cooperation with the Salisbury Police Department's Joint Community Action Team (JCAT), conducted a joint operation targeting the illegal operation of off-road vehicles on public roadways near the Salisbury City Zoo.

During the operation, deputies and officers observed two dirt bikes and a four-wheeler being driven on public roads without proper registration. The individuals were seen committing multiple traffic violations, including running stop signs and performing stunts.

One of the dirt bikes, operated by Antoine Orlando Jones Jr., a 23-year-old resident of Delmar, was carrying a female passenger. Neither was wearing the required helmets.

The group traveled through various areas of the city, including near Salisbury University. Law enforcement engaged with them near Mt. Hermon Road, where Jones attempted to flee on foot after abandoning his dirt bike.

Officers pursued him and, during their attempts to arrest him, Jones resisted. After a brief struggle, he was taken into custody.

The off-road vehicles involved were subsequently impounded as part of ongoing enforcement efforts. Authorities have identified other individuals involved, and investigations are still in progress.

Jones was transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center, where he was held and later released on bail for traffic and criminal charges.

The Joint Community Action Team (JCAT) is a collaborative enforcement initiative involving the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, the Salisbury Police Department, and the Office of the State's Attorney for Wicomico County.

This partnership aims to address public safety concerns throughout Wicomico County, including incidents of illegal off-road vehicle use on public roadways.
