LAUREL POLICE ARREST COUPLE WITH NO-CONTACT ORDERS, FIND HANDGUN IN VEHICLE

Laurel, DE - On June 8, 2024, at approximately 7:45 p.m., an officer from the Laurel Police Department was on patrol and, after observing a traffic violation, stopped a vehicle on Georgetown Road in Laurel, Delaware.


The officer returned to his patrol car to conduct standard computer checks of the driver's license record and discovered that the driver and passenger had active no-contact orders due to a pending criminal case in New Castle County, Delaware.


Both subjects were placed under arrest for the no-contact order violation.


Inside the vehicle, an officer observed an empty firearm holster on the floorboard. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, a semi-automatic handgun was located in the passenger's possessions.


Paperwork was also located that indicated the driver had legally purchased the firearm before providing it to the passenger.


Both subjects were transported to the Laurel Police Department for processing.


The driver was identified as Dana M Williams (32) of Delaware City, DE, and charged with the following crimes:


  • Concealed Carry Deadly Weapon A Firearm (Class D Felony)
  • Giving a Firearm to a Person Prohibited (Class F Felony)
  • Breach of Release (Misdemeanor)
  • Traffic Violations


The passenger was identified as Brian Williams (34) of Delaware City, DE, and charged with the following crimes:


  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited Prior Violent Felony Conviction (Class C Felony)
  • Concealed Carry Deadly Weapon A Firearm (Class D Felony)
  • Breach of Release (Misdemeanor)


Both subjects were arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released after posting bond.
