LATE NIGHT FIRE IN DELMAR CAUSES APPROXIMATELY $12K IN DAMAGES
Wicomico County, MD - In a late-night incident on December 11, 2024, a fire broke out at the property in the 31000 block of Melson Road in Delmar, Wicomico County, Maryland.
The structure affected was a 30 x 100-foot chicken house converted into a storage facility. The Delmar Volunteer Fire Department Station 74 responded to the fire, arriving at the scene at 11:42 PM.
The owner has reported an estimated loss of $2,000 for the structure and $10,000 in content. The fire was discovered by a neighbor who promptly alerted the fire department. Thanks to the swift action of the local community and the fire department, the blaze was brought under control within 45 minutes.
A total of 45 firefighters from the Delmar Fire Dept (Station 74), Parsonsburg Fire Company (Station 6), Pittsville Fire Dept (Station 7), Salisbury Fire Department (Station 2), and Gumboro Fire Co. (Station 79) were deployed to battle the fire.
As of now, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
