JUVENILE ARSON INCIDENT CAUSES $8500 IN PROPERTY DAMAGE
Salisbury, MD - On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at approximately 2:29 PM, a shed fire was reported in the 1000 block of Nokomis Avenue in Salisbury, Wicomico County, Maryland. The shed was a 8' x 12' wood-framed shed and was a complete loss as a result of the fire.
The Salisbury Fire Department was the primary responder to this incident, managing to control the fire within 10 minutes of their arrival. Reports indicate one alarm was set off, and 12 firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
A passerby discovered the fire, and the initial investigation revealed the area of origin as the shed's exterior. Upon preliminary examination, the cause is being categorized as incendiary in nature and treated as an act of arson.
The fire has resulted in an estimated financial loss of $8,500, with the structure valued at $6,000 and contents estimated at $2,500 damaged or destroyed.
In a concerning development, two juvenile arrests are pending in relation to this incident. Salisbury Police treat this as a serious matter, considering the danger such actions pose to public safety.
