IMPROVEMENT FOR THE DOWNTOWN SALISBURY ATMOSPHERE
Salisbury, MD - In an effort to improve the parking and visitor access to Downtown Salisbury during Unity Square Construction, parking pricing and hospitality services are being updated. There will be one free hour of on-street parking during ticketing hours starting Monday July 31st, visitors still need to register with the parking app Flowbird or at a pay station, but will not have to pay for the first hour. Hours two, three, and four are billed as $2.00 per hour, and there is a maximum of four hours which can be processed on the app or at the pay station.During this time of transition, ticketing will be lenient in an effort to ease visitors into any new policies. In addition, there is still free on-street and permit parking everyday after 4pm and on weekends and holidays, plus free two-hour parking in the garage during the week. Free Friday parking holidays are still in effect, which allow visitors to Downtown Salisbury to park free on Fridays. This program will be in effect until September 1, 2023. As this project moves forward, communication and constant signage updates on parking policies will be a priority so that anyone who is affected by parking downtown can remain informed of any changes, please follow the City of Salisbury on Facebook and Instagram for up-to-date information.Another new feature of Downtown is the upcoming Downtown Ambassador Program. During the day, a team of multiple Ambassadors will travel around the Downtown area assisting visitors with anything they may need while one stays in the parking garage to do the same. Their goals will be Beautification and Hospitality in the Downtown corridor. At night there will be a team that will focus on Hospitality and Safety, one Ambassador will be in the parking garage at all times to be available if needed, while the other will circulate through Downtown assisting visitors. The City is beginning to hire this team, and the program should be fully up and running by September. It is the hope that the presence of the Downtown Ambassadors will create an even more welcoming and comfortable environment for everyone spending time in the area."We sincerely thank the residents, business owners, and visitors of Downtown for their patience during this time of change. It is our goal to make traveling to Downtown Salisbury easy and enjoyable for everyone. We hope these updates help improve the atmosphere of Downtown Salisbury while construction is continuing," said Mayor Jack Heath. "Ultimately, Unity Square will make Salisbury an even better destination for visitors and residents to enjoy."© Eastern Shore Undercover LLC TM/SM. All Rights Reserved.
