IMPROPERLY DISCARDED SMOKING MATERIALS BELIEVED TO BE THE CAUSE OF MINOR TALBOT COUNTY FIRE

Talbot County, MD-A minor house fire was reported in the 29000 block of Golton Drive in Easton, Talbot County, Maryland, on August 25, 2024. A neighbor discovered the fire, with damage estimated at $500, the following morning.


The two-story, split foyer, single-family dwelling was confirmed as the location of the incident. The Easton Volunteer Fire Department (EVFD) and Easton Police Department were made aware of the situation and responded promptly. However, upon arrival, they found that the fire had been extinguished before their arrival.


According to preliminary investigations, the fire was not intentional. It was an accidental result of improperly discarded smoking materials by a resident of the house. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between the evening of August 24, 2024, and the morning of August 25, 2024.
