HOLLYBROOK APARTMENTS SHOOTING LEADS TO PURSUIT
Laurel, DE - On April 24, 2023, the Laurel Police Department was dispatched to the Hollybrook Apartment Complex in Laurel, Delaware, in reference to multiple reports of shots fired.Upon initial investigation, police officers observed evidence indicating multiple shots had been fired in the parking lot. A suspect vehicle description was broadcast to other Sussex County police units while the investigation continued.A short time later, a Seaford Police Department officer on patrol observed a vehicle matching the suspect description entering Seaford and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield to the officer's vehicle, initiating a vehicle pursuit.Seaford PD briefly lost sight of the suspect vehicle, and a Delaware State Police trooper located the vehicle to re-initiate the pursuit. The vehicle pursuit continued Southbound on Sussex Highway into Laurel, where Laurel PD joined the pursuit to assist. The vehicle continued to flee at a high rate of speed into Delmar. Delmar Police Department located the suspect vehicle in the area of Chestnut Manor Apartments.Shortly thereafter, officers and troopers searching the area located two subjects that were determined to be the occupants of the suspect vehicle. The suspected driver of the vehicle also provided a false name to officers, and was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Laurel Police Station for processing.The suspected driver of the suspect vehicle was identified as Jordan Cheers (19) of Laurel, DE. He was charged by the Laurel Police Department with the following crimes:Possession with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance (Class D Felony)Criminal Mischief Over $1000 x2 (Class A Misdemeanor)Possession of Marijuana-Related Paraphernalia (Civil Violation)Cheers was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $9,001 secured bail. In addition, he was charged with Disregarding Police Signal and related traffic charges by Delaware State Police and Seaford Police Department.The suspected passenger of the suspect vehicle was identified as Michael Hubbard (19) of Seaford, DE. He was charged by the Laurel Police Department with the following crimes:Possession with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance (Class D Felony)Possession of Ammunition by Person Prohibited (Class D Felony)Criminal Mischief Over $1000 x2 (Class A Misdemeanor)Possession of Marijuana-Related Paraphernalia (Civil Violation)Hubbard was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $16,501 secured bail. In addition, he was also arraigned on multiple charges by the Seaford Police Department.The above subjects have been charged with the listed crimes, and are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty.
