Accomack County, VA - On February 12, 2024, Lankford Highway in Tasley, Virginia was the scene of a high-speed chase involving the Accomack County Sheriff's Office and 21-year-old Salisbury, Maryland resident, Malachi Tull.

The chase began approximately at 1:04 a.m. when an Accomack County Sheriff's Office Deputy attempted to pull over Tull's vehicle due to the vehicle failing to maintain a single lane of travel. However, instead of stopping, the vehicle accelerated, leading to a dangerous pursuit through the Town of Accomac where speeds exceeded 75 mph.

Tull's reckless disregard for traffic regulations continued as he hit a staggering 100+ mph on the return to Lankford Highway, heading north until losing control and wrecking in Bloxom, Virginia.

Despite the crash, Tull and another occupant managed to exit the wrecked vehicle, and attempt to elude officers on foot.

Deputies were able to apprehend Tull, while the second individual remains at large. Tull was taken into custody and transferred to the Accomack County Sheriff's Office.

He has been charged with felony eluding, driving without a license, and maliciously shooting at or throwing missiles at an occupied vehicle, consequently being remanded to the Accomack County Jail with bail denied.

The tense situation was managed with the joint effort of the Accomack County Sheriff's Office and the Virginia State Police, their collaborative work exemplifying the importance of inter-agency cooperation for public safety.

Residents are urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement as the investigation of the second occupant continues.
