FRUITLAND MAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH THE MURDER OF HIS MOTHER
Salisbury, MD - Maryland State Police homicide investigators have arrested a Fruitland man following the death of his mother. Jeremy Gentry, 48, was taken into custody today and has been charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment after the body of his mother was found in a bathtub at the San Castle Boulevard home.
Jeremy Gentry is currently awaiting a bond hearing at the Wicomico County District Court Commissioner's Office.
The victim, who has been identified as Beatrice Kay Gentry, 68, is the mother of Jeremy Gentry. As it stands, the exact cause and manner of her death await the final autopsy results.
Last night, just before 9:00 p.m., the Fruitland Police Department and emergency medical service personnel were dispatched to an address on Sand Castle Boulevard. Authorities were alerted to an unconscious woman at the location. EMS arrived and met the victim's husband.
Upon entering the residence, they discovered an unresponsive woman in the bathtub, who was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Fruitland Police Department later asked the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit to take over the investigation. The MSP Homicide Unit, with the assistance of Maryland State Police Forensic Crime Scene Technicians, processed the scene for evidence.
As the investigation moved forward, Jeremy Gentry emerged as the prime suspect. Gentry was arrested this morning without incident after consultations with the Wicomico County State's Attorney's Office, which led to securing an arrest warrant for him.
