FLORIDA MAN EXTRADITED TO MARYLAND FOLLOWING $200K MARINE BURGLARY INVESTIGATION

Church Creek, MD - The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office has successfully extradited a Florida man accused of a large-scale commercial burglary at Gootee's Marine in Church Creek, Maryland, following a thorough investigation.
On December 16, 2024, deputies responded to a report of theft at Gootee's Marine, discovering that six outboard boat motors valued at over $187,000 had been stolen from a secure boat storage yard. Additional property damage brought the total estimated losses to over $212,000.
Detectives launched a months-long investigation, reviewing surveillance footage, tracking stolen vehicles, and collaborating with law enforcement agencies across Maryland and the East Coast. This extensive effort identified 34-year-old Jose Raxon Lopez Sangermes of Lake Worth, Florida, as the primary suspect.
Sangermes was apprehended in Florida and held at the Palm Beach County Detention Center. Deputies from the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office traveled to West Palm Beach on March 20, 2025, to extradite him to Maryland. He is now being held without bond at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
