FIREFIGHTERS BATTLED AN OVERNIGHT FIRE AT UNOCCUPIED RESIDENCE IN QUANTICO MARYLAND

Quantico, MD - A devastating fire engulfed a two-story wooden-framed house on March 11, 2025, in the 23800 block of River Street, Quantico, Wicomico County, Maryland. The incident was reported at 11:30 PM and resulted in an estimated loss of $350,000.


The property owner was the first to notice the fire, which started from the interior of the unoccupied structure. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.


The Westside Volunteer Fire Department was the primary responding unit, with several additional fire departments assisting, totaling around 50 firefighters on the scene. It took approximately two hours to bring the fire under control.


At the time of the incident, the house was undergoing renovations, including the refinishing of its hardwood floors using linseed oil. It has yet to be determined whether the renovations are connected to the fire.
