FIREFIGHTERS BATTLED A WEEKEND SHED FIRE IN CAROLINE COUNTY
Caroline County, MD - On November 17, 2024, at approximately 1:01 P.M., a structure fire broke out in the 27000 block of Marydel Road in Caroline County, Maryland. The property affected was a detached 15' X 25' shed located on the property.
The property occupant discovered the fire and alerted the Marydel Volunteer Fire Company. Twenty-three firefighters responded to the call and brought the flames under control within 20 minutes.
The primary cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental, caused by the careless burning of leaves. This ignited the shed's exterior, which then extended into the rest of the structure.
As a result of the fire, an estimated loss of $15,000.00 has been reported, including the value of the shed and its contents. This particular incident serves as a stern reminder of the potential dangers of uncontrolled fires-even something as seemingly harmless as burning leaves can lead to devastating property damage.
