FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE IS INVESTIGATING A DUCK BLIND FIRE IN A DORCHESTER COUNTY
Dorchester County, MD - On the evening of March 3, 2025, a fire broke out in the marsh areas of Hoopersville Road, south of Ferry Bridge on Hoopers Island, Dorchester County, Maryland.
The fire, which is currently under investigation, erupted within a 40 square-foot wooden duck blind.
The blaze was reportedly discovered by a passerby, with the Hoopers Island Volunteer Fire Company being the primary response team. The estimated loss due to structural damage is pegged at $2,000.
The fire, ignited in the interior of the duck blind, did not spread beyond the immediate area of the structure.
At this point, the cause of the fire remains unclear and is under thorough investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal's Salisbury office. The investigations will determine if the fire was accidental or deliberate.
