FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE AND MARYLAND STATE POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING FATAL CAROLINE COUNTY SHED FIRE
Caroline County, MD - A tragic fire in Caroline County, Maryland, has resulted in the passing of one individual, according to reports from the Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Maryland State Police. The incident occurred at a property on Butler Court in Denton, Maryland, where the fire had engulfed a shed.
The Queen Anne-Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Company was on the scene at approximately 2:24 p.m., responding to reports of a shed fire with associated injuries. The team of around 32 firefighters successfully controlled the fire in roughly 30 minutes.
However, amidst the catastrophe, a 58-year-old male was found near the shed and eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Initial reports to 911 came from the residents of the property and neighbors. The victim was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the cause of death.
As investigations continue into the cause and exact origin of the fire within the shed, it has been reported that it destroyed the shed and its contents. The estimated cost of the damage stands at around $15,000.
In circumstances of fatal fires, a standard operating procedure involves a joint investigation between the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
