FIRE BREAKS OUT IN FRUITLAND, MARYLAND; ONE FIREFIGHTER INJURED

Fruitland, MD - On March 18, 2025, at approximately 12:41 P.M., a structure fire was reported in the 100 block of Moore Avenue in Fruitland, Wicomico County, Maryland. The fire started in the garage ceiling of a single-story, single-family home with an attached garage.
The Fruitland Volunteer Fire Company responded as the primary department, with the help from several other agencies, deploying 20 firefighters to the scene. It took approximately 25 minutes for personnel to bring the fire under control.
A passerby discovered the fire, and the preliminary investigation revealed that it was accidentally caused by a failure in an electrical branch circuit.
One firefighter was transported to a medical facility for treatment of minor heat-related illness. The estimated damage from the fire is $100,000 to the structure and $50,000 to its contents.
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants.
