FIRE AT SHA FACILITY BEING INVESTIGATED BY STATE FIRE MARSHALS OFFICE

Queen Anne's County, MD - In an unfortunate incident on a busy Thursday evening in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, a fire erupted at a Maryland State Highway Administration facility.


Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze which reportedly caused damages worth approximately $800,000.


The fire, which prompted a quick response from Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company and neighboring fire departments, was reported at around 7:30 pm at the facility situated at 111 Safety Drive, Centreville, Maryland.


On arrival, the firefighters were greeted by a severe fire emerging from several vehicles, including those stationed within the storage garage. As a result, a two-alarm was issued with close to 50 firefighters battling the flames for an hour and a half to finally get it under control.


A team of Deputy State Fire Marshals turned up at the scene to commence an investigation into the cause. At this stage, they haven't found any evidence to suggest the presence of any criminal activity. The investigators returned the following morning to continue their scrutiny focusing on any possible electrical reasons, especially concerning the vehicles parked in the garage.


The estimated financial loss encompasses the damage to the structure, content, vehicles, and other associated machinery.
