Salisbury, MD - Wor-Wic Community College is extending a helping hand to both prospective students and those seeking to get back to education by encouraging the completion of financial aid forms for the 2025-2026 school year.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), an integral part of accessing financial aid, has opened avenues for federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs. These include grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans.

Another important resource is the Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship. This scholarship can offer massive financial breathing space, covering up to $5,000 of remaining tuition and mandatory fees after other federal or state financial aids have been assigned. In essence, it could result in free college education for some eligible students.

The FAFSA and the Promise Scholarship do not discriminate based on age. High school seniors eyeing their college years can apply, as can older individuals who have held back their educational aspirations due to financial constraints.

The process of applying for the FAFSA has been simplified over the past year and should now take less than an hour to complete.

Katie Abreu, the director of financial aid at Wor-Wic Community College, expressed satisfaction with the streamlined process. Her office is dedicated to guiding students and their parents through the process if they encounter any obstacles.

Students who need assistance or wish to access the FAFSA form can visit worwic.edu/Pay-For-College or contact the office at 410-334-2905.
