FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH IN MIDDLETOWN BEING INVESTIGATED BY DELAWARE STATE POLICE
Middletown, DE - A fatal crash involving a motorcycle is being investigated by the Delaware State Police. Delaware State Police have initiated an investigation into the deadly incident, which took place on April 28, 2024, around 2:20 p.m.
The collision involved a Ford F-250 and a Honda CBR motorcycle on Warwick Road (Eastbound) in Middletown, DE. Police reports indicate that the Ford F-250 was getting ready to merge onto the Delaware 301 northbound ramp while the motorcycle was speeding in the right lane of Warwick Road.
The motorcyclist made abrupt lane changes, entered the left turn lane, and subsequently crashed into the back of the F-250.
The F-250, driven by a 24-year-old man from Coatesville, Pennsylvania, had two other passengers who, like the driver, were unharmed.
The motorcyclist, a 61-year-old man from New Castle, Delaware, was rushed to a local hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
His identity is being held until family members have been notified. The fatal crash led to an approximately three-and-a-half-hour road closure while the scene was cleared and investigated.
