FATAL HEAD-ON MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH BEING INVESTIGATED BY DELAWARE STATE POLICE

Selbyville, DE - A fatal head-on collision that occurred in Selbyville on a Wednesday afternoon is currently under investigation by Delaware State Police. This tragic accident happened on February 26, 2025, at approximately 2:44 p.m. on Hudson Road, just north of Lynch Road.

Providing a detailed account of the accident, authorities reported that a Jeep Gladiator, moving southbound on Hudson Road, somehow ended up in the northbound lane. Simultaneously, a northbound traveling Freightliner tractor was on the same route. The Jeep Gladiator, for reasons yet to be determined, crossed path with the tractor, resulting in a head-on collision.

The tractor driver, in a valiant effort to avoid the collision, swerved right but could not prevent the inevitable, as its front collided with the oncoming Jeep.

Tragically, the crash resulted in the death of the 60-year-old Selbyville man who was behind the wheel of the Jeep. As per authorities, the man's identity remains confidential until his family has been properly notified.

Conversely, the tractor driver, a 60-year-old man from Dover, Delaware, survived the incident and was transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries.

In the aftermath of the crash, the involved roadway had to be closed for approximately four hours. The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit was on scene, thoroughly investigating the cause of the crash and managing the clearing of the roadway.
