FATAL CRASH IN CAROLINE COUNTY BEING INVESTIGATED BY MARYLAND STATE POLICE
Caroline County, MD - In a tragic turn of events, a teenager from Federalsburg, Maryland lost his life in a crash involving two vehicles in Caroline County this Sunday. The victim, a 17-year-old named Trevor Whiteley, was found deceased at the crash site by emergency medical services.
The accident occurred before midnight on Jan. 19, 2025, when Maryland State Police from the Easton Barrack responded to a report of a car crash on Route 313, north of Chipmans Lane in Federalsburg. The car involved, a 2010 Ford Fusion, was found to have rear-ended a dump truck. The teenager was a passenger in this car.
According to preliminary investigations, the car, driven by a 19-year-old named Nathan D'Orlando from Denton, Maryland, was moving south on Route 313 when it hit the dump truck. The dump truck was being operated by a 24-year-old named William Andrew from Cordova, Maryland.
At the time of the accident, the dump truck was partially stationed on the shoulder and in the roadway, as it was assigned for snow removal and salt operations by the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration.
While D'Orlando was transported to Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police Aviation Command, Andrew declined ambulance transport. The Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division is conducting a post-crash inspection of the truck.
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration was involved in managing road closures following the accident.
Currently, the incident is under close investigation by the Maryland State Police Crash Team. They are looking into whether alcohol played a role in the unfortunate event.
The cause of the crash is still not confirmed and further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
