FAMILY HOME DESTROYED IN CHRISTMAS DAY FIRE
Salisbury, MD - On Monday, December 25, 2023, Christmas Day, at around 12:15 PM, firefighters were dispatched to the 3800 block of Coulbourn Mill Road in Salisbury, Maryland for a reported residential structure fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-story, wood-frame single-family home, well involved. It took approximately 1 hour to get the fire under control.
The fire was discovered by a neighbor and it is believed that the fire started on the rear enclosed porch.
As a result of the fire, fire investigators estimate a loss of $350,000 to the structure and an additional $50,000 in contents.
Fruitland Volunteer Fire Company Station 3 was the primary fire department on this call. This fire call ended up at 2 alarms with 60 firefighters on scene assisting with the fire.

A total of four dogs and a pet rabbit were rescued by firefighters from the burning home. Two of the dogs were transported to Pet's ER in Salisbury and are expected to recover. Unfortunately an "Umbrella Cockatoo" bird and several fish perished in the fire.
