EASTERN SHORE RUNNING CLUB'S PIRATE'S WHARF 5K SET FOR OCTOBER 12, 2024
Quantico, MD - Join the Eastern Shore Running Club on Saturday, October 12, for the inaugural Pirate's Wharf 5K, which is the first race to be held at the new Pirate's Wharf Park in Quantico.
The 5K race will begin at 9 a.m. and be held on the crushed stone paths in the park. After the race, participants can enjoy music from Revive Sound Productions, free bowls from Playa Bowls, other refreshments, and yard games.
Overall and age group awards will also be presented, and the top male and female finishers will receive a free pair of running shoes (valued at up to $150) from Vernon Powell Shoes.
Race proceeds will benefit the Eastern Shore Running Club's general fund and the Eastern Shore Running Club Scholarship Fund. Starting in 2019, Eastern Shore Running Club's scholarship has been presented to two local high school graduating seniors each year.
Race registration is $35, plus a processing fee of $3.10. Online registration is available at www.esrclub.org/pirates-wharf-5k through Wednesday, October 9, at 11:59 p.m. On-site registration will also be available from 7:30-8:30 a.m., along with packet pickup for registered runners. The deadline to receive a guaranteed race shirt has passed.
"Come out and join us at this beautiful new park for the Pirate's Wharf 5K," said Vanessa Junkin, president of the Eastern Shore Running Club. "It's a flat and fast course, and after crossing the finish line, you can enjoy a fun post-race party."
Mile Marker sponsors for the race include Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc.; Independent Tattoo; Playa Bowls; Vernon Powell Shoes; Veronica James - REALTOR, ERA Martin Associates; and Maryland's Wicomico County.
Dogs and strollers are not permitted on the race course. Pirate's Wharf Park is located at 4701 Whitehaven Road in Quantico, Maryland.
The Eastern Shore Running Club is a nonprofit organization based in Salisbury, Maryland, through the Road Runners Club of America group exemption, founded to promote and advocate for the running community on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
