DSP IS INVESTIGATING A SINGLE-VEHICLE FATAL CRASH IN MILTON
Milton, DE-The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred in the early hours of October 13, 2024, on Stockley Road, west of Beaver Dam Road, in Milton, DE.
The vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, was operated by a 66-year-old Lewes, Delaware man who was driving eastbound at the time of the accident.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the car was moving at high speeds before it veered off to the south side of the road. The subsequent collision involved the vehicle hitting a mailbox in the 29000 block of Stockley Road, continuing through the front yard of a residence, and crashing into a tree.
Tragically, the driver, who was not properly wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, lost his life and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
In respect for the family's privacy, the victim's identity has been withheld.
The accident temporarily closed Stockley Road for about two and a half hours. The Delaware State Police's Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit was on the scene for this duration, conducting an investigation and clearing the roadway.
