Queen Anne's County, MD - On March 16 at approximately 10:32 PM, Deputy First Class (DFC) Coale of the Maryland law enforcement team observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane near Evans Avenue in Grasonville, Maryland. A traffic stop was initiated in the Hess Road area, leading to the arrest of the driver, identified as Jenifer Pace.

Upon stopping the vehicle, a routine Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) check revealed that Pace's driver's license was suspended. During the interaction, DFC Coale noticed several signs of potential impairment, prompting Pace to undergo Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs).

After failing to perform the tests adequately, she was taken into custody.

A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle uncovered controlled dangerous substances (CDS), specifically suspected Xanax, along with drug paraphernalia.

Following her arrest, Pace was evaluated by a certified drug recognition expert who confirmed she was under the influence of narcotics, rendering her incapable of safely operating a motor vehicle.

Pace now faces multiple charges, including:

  • Driving a vehicle while impaired by a controlled dangerous substance
  • Reckless driving
  • Negligent driving
  • Operating a vehicle on a suspended license
  • Failure to obey a traffic control device
  • Unsafe lane change
