DORCHESTER COUNTY POLE BARN FIRE UNDER INVESTIGATION

Hurlock, MD-In the early morning of April 4, 2024, a fire broke out at the 4200 block of Beulah Road in Hurlock, Dorchester County, Maryland. 

The fire was in a 30 x 40 pole barn with a hay loft. The estimated loss for the structure is about $50,000, but the content damage is assessed at around $175,000.

The Hurlock Volunteer Fire Department was the primary responder to the emergency. Fifty firefighters responded to the single-alarm incident, which took about 60 minutes to bring under control.

A passerby first discovered the fire. It is believed to have originated in the interior of the pole barn, but the precise cause is still under investigation. Notably, several pieces of powered equipment were present in the barn at the time of the fire.
