DORCHESTER COUNTY CRASH CLAIMS THE LIFE OF TWO ADULTS AND SENDS JUVENILE TO JOHNS HOPKINS IN BALTIMORE
Dorchester County, MD - Maryland State Police are currently investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident that took place in Dorchester County on Sunday evening, resulting in two deaths.
The incident happened just before 10 p.m. on Sunday when troopers from the Maryland State Police Easton Barrack were called to the accident scene on eastbound U.S. Route 50 near Austin Road.
Initial investigations indicate that a Subaru, moving eastwards, veered off the road for reasons still unknown, hit a utility pole and caught fire.
The male driver of the vehicle, who has not been identified until his next of kin are notified, passed away on the scene. Similarly, an adult female passenger, still unidentified pending similar family notification, was airlifted by the Maryland State Police Aviation Command (MSPAC) to the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health at Cambridge, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries.
MSPAC also transported a juvenile to the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore for treatment.
The incident led to a closure of eastbound Route 50 for over two hours as the crash was being investigated. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with the road closure. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is in charge of the investigation, which is still underway.
