Wicomico County, MD - Graham Arthur, a 42-year-old resident of Delmar, was sentenced to six years of active imprisonment by the Circuit Court for Wicomico County on January 15, 2025. The court found him guilty of failing to stop at the scene of a fatal accident.

The incident occurred on July 20, 2023, when Arthur, while driving on Ocean Gateway, struck a three-wheeled cyclist. Instead of stopping to offer assistance, he fled the scene.

Two good Samaritans found the victim and alerted emergency personnel, but unfortunately, the victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The Salisbury Police Department (SPD) launched an investigation into the incident. A significant breakthrough came in February 2024 when a tip-off led to the discovery of Arthur's uniquely painted vehicle and his attempts to conceal evidence.

The Honorable Matthew A. Maciarello, Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Wicomico County, imposed the maximum sentence of ten years of imprisonment but suspended all but six years. After his release, Arthur will be on supervised probation for three years under special conditions.

Wicomico County State's Attorney Jamie Dykes emphasized the importance of stopping and providing assistance in such situations, highlighting Arthur's failure to do so. She expressed her gratitude to the good Samaritans and the Salisbury Police Department, particularly praising lead investigator Cpl. Foy for his diligent work.

Additionally, she commended the determined advocacy of Senior Assistant State's Attorney Lauren Bourdon and Assistant State's Attorney Jeffrey Hysan, Jr.
