DELAWARE STATE POLICE MAKE AN ARREST IN GUM TREE ROAD SHOOTING FROM FEBRUARY 2025

Frankford, DE - An 18-year-old resident of Seaford, Kelvin Wescott, has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder case that took place in Frankford, Delaware, in February 2025.


The incident was first reported on February 2, when a call was made to troopers about a shooting at a residence on the 28000 block of Gum Tree Road in Frankford. Upon their arrival, they found a 41-year-old male gunshot victim who had been taken to the Frankford Fire Company before being transferred to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.


After investigating the situation, detectives determined that an altercation between the victim and another Black male led to the shooting. Through swift investigative efforts, they identified Kelvin Wescott as the suspected shooter.


On February 28, 2025, Wescott was located in Millsboro, Delaware, and arrested without incident. During a standard search, officers found approximately 0.060 grams of heroin in his possession at the time of his arrest.


Wescott was then transported to Troop 4, where he was officially charged and presented before Justice of the Peace Court 2. Following his arraignment, he was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution under a cash bond of $1,061,400.
