Millsboro, DE - The Delaware State Police have arrested 47-year-old Veronica Ayres of Millsboro, Delaware, for child abuse following an investigation at a Millsboro daycare.

On June 3, 2024, Delaware State Police were notified by the Division of Family Services of the physical abuse of a child by a staff member at Bright Beginnings Daycare, located at 29735 John J. Williams Highway in Millsboro,  Delaware.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that on May 31, 2024, a staff member, identified as Veronica Ayres, struck a 2-year-old child in the face. Ayres' employment was terminated on the day of the incident.

On July 9, 2024, Ayres turned herself in at Troop 4, where she was charged with the crime listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on her own recognizance.
