DELAWARE STATE POLICE ARREST A SELBYVILLE MAN FOR AGGRAVATED MENACING
Selbyville, DE - Delaware State Police have arrested Matthew Mitchell, 47-year old from Selbyville, Delaware, and he is now facing multiple charges including aggravated menacing.
At around 5:30 p.m. on August 18, 2024, police responded to calls concerning a disruptive individual on the 30000 block of Peppers Creek Road in Dagsboro, Delaware. Upon arrival, police spoke with a man who stated that his truck's tires had been slashed and he had been threatened with a knife by a man who was later identified as Mitchell.
Police gathered from their initial investigation that the victim was in his parked truck in the Dogwood Acres Community when Mitchell approached him. Mitchell then proceeded to damage the vehicle's tires.
This incident is a result of an earlier perceived provocation, where the victim had followed Mitchell's vehicle too closely on Vines Creek Road.
A physical altercation is reported to have ensued once the victim exited his vehicle, with Mitchell accused of grabbing the man and brandishing a knife in a threatening manner.
The victim did not sustain any physical injuries from the incident.
Mitchell was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $16,300 secured bond.
