DELAWARE STATE POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR WITNESSES INTO FATAL CRASH AT CONCORD POND
Seaford, DE - In a tragic incident on Monday evening, a man has lost his life in a fatal crash at a boat ramp near Seaford, Delaware, which is now under investigation by the Delaware State Police. The accident took place on Monday, March 18, 2024, around 5:29 in the evening and was initially reported on Eastern Shore Undercover's social media pages.
The incident unfolded when the victim, a 72-year-old man from Baltimore, Maryland, was backing his Nissan Frontier pickup truck down the Concord Pond boat ramp, readying to load a canoe. However, in a turn of unfortunate events, the man seemingly lost control of his vehicle. Consequently, the truck traveled backward, plunging into the water and getting submerged, with the driver still trapped inside.
Rescue teams were quick to respond to the emergency and managed to extract the driver from the immersed truck, beginning instantaneous lifesaving efforts. Despite the swift action of rescue crews, the man was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The identity of the victim is currently being withheld, pending notification of next-of-kin.
