DELAWARE STATE POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING OVERNIGHT LAUREL HOMICIDE

Laurel, DE - Delaware State Police are investigating a homicide that occurred in Laurel early this morning.

On June 3, 2024, at approximately 1:22 a.m., the Laurel Police Department and Delaware State Police responded to a large crowd with shots fired at Little Creek Apartments, located in the town limits of Laurel. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 23-year-old man behind the 400-building suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified. A second victim, a 26-year-old man, later responded to an area hospital with a gunshot wound, where he was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Laurel Police Department requested the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit to take over the investigation due to its nature. According to a preliminary investigation, an unknown suspect or suspects fired multiple shots where the crowd had gathered, hitting the two victims, several cars, and buildings.

The Homicide Unit is still actively investigating this incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this case to contact Detective M. Csapo by calling (302) 741-2729.
