DELAWARE STATE POLICE ANNOUNCE PROMOTION OF CAPTAIN JEREMIAH LLOYD TO MAJOR

State of Delaware - Colonel William D. Crotty, Superintendent of the Delaware State Police (DSP), has announced the promotion of Captain Jeremiah Lloyd to the rank of Major. Major Lloyd will serve as the DSP Administrative Officer, a role pivotal to the operational efficiency of the division.


His responsibilities span a wide range of areas, including budget management, oversight of the training academy, human resources, and victim services, among others.


With a distinguished career spanning 19 years, Major Lloyd brings extensive experience and exemplary leadership to his new position. His noteworthy contributions to the Delaware State Police highlight his dedication to public safety and organizational excellence.


Educational and Professional Background

Major Lloyd's academic achievements include earning a Master of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Homeland Security from Saint Joseph's University in 2018 and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Wilmington University in 2004.


He has also completed advanced training at the FBI National Academy Session 284, further underscoring his commitment to professional development.


Career Highlights

Major Lloyd has held multiple leadership roles that have significantly impacted the department's operations:

  • Commander of Troop 6: Recently, Major Lloyd oversaw a team of 45 troopers and three professional staff members. He successfully enhanced community partnerships, introduced advanced crime analysis technology, and led the complex planning for Troop 6's building relocation project.
  • Deputy Commander of Troop 2's Criminal Investigations Unit: As a Lieutenant, he improved investigative accountability and implemented technological upgrades in interview rooms. He also played a critical role in advancing evidence-based policing strategies.
  • Development of the Real Time Crime Center: Major Lloyd was instrumental in establishing and leading the Real Time Crime Center in 2017. He developed strategies for statewide crime and traffic reduction, upgraded the statewide intelligence system, and managed a significant grant focused on reducing gun violence.


His contributions have consistently demonstrated innovation and a forward-thinking approach to advancing law enforcement techniques and collaboration.


Community Service

Outside of his professional commitments, Major Lloyd is deeply involved in community service. He serves as the Treasurer for the Camp Barnes Board of Directors and volunteers with Special Olympics Delaware.


Additionally, he has been a member of the Odessa Fire Company since 1995 and has actively coached youth football and Little League teams.
