CRISFIELD MAN SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS IN PRISON FOR ATTACKING SALISBURY UNIVERSITY STUDENT
Wicomico County, MD - Kendall Sneade Jr., a 31-year-old man from Crisfield, Maryland, was recently sentenced to a twenty-year sentence for the false imprisonment and second-degree assault of a student from Salisbury University. The trial was held over two days and was presided over by the Honorable Matthew A. Maciarrello, Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Wicomico County.
Sneade was sentenced to 40 years with 20 years to be served in the Department of Corrections. When he is released from prison, he will be on 5 years of supervised probation with special conditions, including GPS monitoring.
The incident occurred on February 11, 2024, when Sneade, who is not a Salisbury University student, followed the victim, who is a student at the college, to her car in a parking lot.
The victim attempted to escape Sneade by entering her vehicle but he entered the car with the victim and attempted to cover her mouth. The victim, due to her courage, was able to ward off Sneade by kicking, punching, and screaming.
The Salisbury University Police Department, with assistance from the Salisbury Police Department, was able to locate and arrest Sneade based on the victim's description. The case against Sneade was further strengthened through DNA analysis.
Jamie Dykes, Wicomico County State's Attorney, commended the victim for her courage and bravery, as well as the Salisbury University Police Department for their diligent investigation, effectively bringing justice to the victim and the community.
She also thanked Lt. K. Craven and Sgt. K. Staley, specifically for their contributions to the case. Dykes also praised the work of Senior Assistant State's Attorney Lauren Bourdon and Assistant State's Attorney Will Jackson for their relentless advocacy in this case.
This case is a stark reminder of the importance of personal safety and the role that quick thinking and brave responses can play in protecting individuals from harm. Although the ordeal was undoubtedly traumatic for the victim, her courage and the swift response of the police have resulted in a positive outcome - a serious offender has been removed from society for a significant period of time.
