CITY OF SALISBURY ANNOUNCES RESURFACING INITIATIVE

Salisbury, MD - The City of Salisbury has elected a contractor to spearhead a new road resurfacing initiative. The work is scheduled to begin in the Fitzwater Street area, with an emphasis on 1st Street, 2nd Street, Pearl Street, and other linked roads.
Preparations start with milling work on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, and moving smoothly into the repaving phase on March 10. The projected completion of the task is March 15, although this is dependent on all being well.
This pivotal project is under the careful supervision of the Field Operations Department. Their responsibility extends beyond this solitary project. They consistently review the conditions of all City streets, prioritizing repairs based on their findings and funds availability.
The team's core focus includes addressing issues like potholes, cracking, and loss of material.
The road resurfacing will be carried out in two phases: Project Area 1 will cover 1st and 2nd Street, Pearl Street, Hill Street, West Main Street. Project Area 2 will address Church Street, Mitchell Street, and Vine Street.
On February 27, 2025, residents and businesses in these areas will receive flyers containing information about the impending work. All vehicles are expected to be removed from the streets during the resurfacing period; otherwise, they will be subjected to towing.
City official, Mike Dryden, Director of the Field Operations Department, emphasized the significance of this project, saying, "We derive great satisfaction in ensuring Salisbury's roads are safe and visually pleasing for everyone. This project kickstarts our sustained efforts to boost road conditions throughout the City."
The City of Salisbury eagerly solicits the cooperation and forbearance of the community as these vital improvements are implemented.
