CAROLINE COUNTY WALMART FIRE BEING INVESTIGATED BY STATE FIRE MARSHAL OFFICE

Denton, MD-The Denton Walmart, located at 610 Legion Road, was the site of an attempted arson on Thursday, June 27, 2024. The Caroline County Sheriff's Office reported that an individual intentionally set a clothing display rack on fire at approximately 2:47 PM.

The fire originated from within the store's interior, targeting a rack of clothing. Quick thinking and immediate action from Walmart employees soon brought the situation under control. The fire was contained and extinguished within just two minutes, resulting in no damage to the building structure.

However, the contents, mainly the clothing on the display rack, suffered losses of approximately $360.

The State Fire Marshal's Office has been engaged, and a thorough investigation into these alarming events is currently underway.  The preliminary cause of the fire has been identified as incendiary, confirming suspicions that the fire was intentional.

No further details about potential suspects or motives have been released.
