CAROLINE COUNTY MAN ARRESTED FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH STATE SEX OFFENDER REQUIREMENTS
Caroline County, MD - Detectives from the Caroline County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division launched an investigation on October 7, 2024, into the case of registered sexual offender Joseph L. Drejka and his repeated failure to adhere to the state registration requirements set forth by the State of Maryland.
Drejka, a Tier III offender under the supervision of the Caroline County Sheriff's Office Sex Offender Registry Division, was obligated to report a change in electronic information and secondary or temporary addresses as part of Maryland's sex offender registration requirements. However, reports suggest that Drejka failed to fulfill these obligations, resulting in a breach of regulations.
Additionally, Drejka had also failed to register as a sex offender in the State of Delaware previously, further aggravating his charges.
In response to his non-compliance, on October 29, 2024, authorities took Drejka into custody. He was served with an active arrest warrant issued by the Caroline County District Court, citing his failure to register as required and violating the lifetime sexual offender registry requirements.
Drejka was subsequently remanded to the Caroline County Detention Center, where he is currently held without bond.
