Caroline County, MD - On the morning of February 15, 2025, a fire broke out in a detached shed at a property located in the 14000 block of Oakland Road, Ridgely, in Caroline County, Maryland.

The fire was battled by the dedicated team from Ridgely Volunteer Fire Company (VFC) and surrounding agencies, yet not before it caused around $20,000 in damages to the structure and its contents.

The incident was discovered by an occupant of the main residence, and the firefighters responded promptly. A total of 28 firefighters were on the scene, and despite their immediate response, it took them an hour to get the fire under control.

The shed, which was primarily used for storage and to house a variety of domestic animals, was heavily affected by an unspecified accidental electrical event, according to preliminary investigations. The fire not only consumed the shed but also caused significant damage to adjacent outbuilding structures on the property.

Tragically, several animals housed in the shed did not survive the fire, with one dog and five rabbits passing away as a result of the fire.
