WORCESTER COUNTY, MD - In a recent sentencing for a 2022 murder, Carl Lee Fuller, 33 years of age, was given a life sentence on February 23, 2024, by the Honorable Brian D. Shockley of the Worcester County Circuit Court. Fuller was convicted of first-degree murder on September 8, 2023, linked to the brutal killing of David Pfeffer back in October 2022.

Shockley suspended all except 50 years of Fuller's life sentence and imposed five years of supervised probation upon release.

The case unfolded when Worcester County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a cardiac arrest report on October 23, 2022, on St. Luke's Road in Snow Hill, Maryland. Upon arrival, they discovered a grim scene.

Pfeffer was found lying unresponsive in a pool of blood, his face and head severely battered. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators noticed Pfeffer's vehicle was not at the location and later found the missing vehicle parked in Delmar, Delaware, with the assistance of Delaware State Police. The suspect in the case, Fuller, was located inside the Delmar residence and agreed to speak with investigators.

During his interrogation, Fuller confessed to killing Pfeffer with a baseball bat. He also admitted to burglarizing the victim's home and taking firearms that he subsequently hid in his mother's residence along with his bloody clothing.

The investigators recovered these items as well as the victim's credit card and the murder weapon, which Fuller had discarded on his getaway from the crime scene.

In a statement, Worcester County State's Attorney Kris Heiser expressed compassion for the Pfeffer family, adding, "Our thoughts and prayers remain with Mr. Pfeffer's family, whose lives have been altered forever by this terrible crime. We can only hope that the sentence in this case brings them some small comfort that justice was done."

Heiser also extended gratitude to the Worcester County Sheriff's Office, Maryland State Police, Newark Volunteer EMS, and Det. Allen of the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and Assistant State's Attorney Dempsey Stewart, who prosecuted the case successfully.
