CAMBRIDGE WOMAN ARRESTED FOR STEALING A VEHICLE
Cambridge, MD - A woman from Cambridge, Maryland, was arrested and charged in connection with a vehicle theft, according to police reports. Tyresha Shawnece Hewitt, 24, was apprehended on July 1, 2024, by Cambridge Police Department (CPD) officers.
Police were called to the Cambridge Inn, located in the 2800 block of Ocean Gateway in Cambridge, Maryland, after receiving a stolen vehicle report. The victim suggested that Hewitt might be at the Bradford House, located in the 700 block of Race Street in Cambridge, Maryland.
Acting on this information, officers promptly responded to the location and found the stolen vehicle occupied.
Upon arriving at the Bradford House, officers identified Hewitt who was then subsequently placed under arrest. A search following the arrest uncovered other property belonging to the victim as well as Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS).
Hewitt was taken directly to Cambridge Police Department for processing before appearing in front of a District Court of Maryland Commissioner. She was then transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on a temporary commitment.
Hewitt faces several charges, including Motor Vehicle Theft, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, CDS Possession Not Cannabis, CDS Possession Paraphernalia, and Prostitution. The case is ongoing and further updates will follow as information becomes available.

Note: On July 3, 2024, Hewitt was released on her own recognizance. She was ordered to appear in court on July 12, 2024, where she failed to appear, and was issued a bench warrant.
