CAMBRIDGE WOMAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING VIOLENT DISPUTE OVER CANNABIS

Cambridge, MD - On March 2, 2025, at approximately 3:42 AM, Cambridge Police Department (CPD) officers responded to a reported disturbance in the 900 block of Wood Duck Drive in Cambridge, MD. Upon their arrival, law enforcement made contact with the victim, who reported a physical altercation involving cannabis.


According to the victim, an argument began when Lakisha Renae Collins, a 48-year-old resident of Cambridge, Maryland, allegedly removed cannabis from a table and went to the third floor of the residence. The victim followed her upstairs to retrieve the cannabis, but Collins reportedly stated that she had already consumed it.


Shortly afterward, Collins allegedly stormed downstairs, retrieved a hammer from a drawer, and struck the victim on the back of the head. The victim managed to disarm Collins, who reportedly continued to physically assault the victim before allegedly grabbing a knife. At this point, the victim contacted authorities.


Officers observed injuries on the victim that were consistent with the details of the reported incident. Collins was arrested at the scene and transported to Cambridge Police Department headquarters for processing.


During processing, Collins claimed that the victim, identified as Tyler Montae Nichols, a 40-year-old resident of Cambridge, had physically assaulted her by grabbing her neck, shoving her into a wall, and pushing her to the floor. However, officers found no visible injuries on Collins.


Collins was subsequently charged with the following offenses:

  • Assault - 1st Degree  
  • Assault - 2nd Degree  
  • Reckless Endangerment  


She was later transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections, where she is being held without bond.


Meanwhile, Cambridge Police Department officers applied for charges against Nichols with a court commissioner. A criminal summons for Nichols is currently pending service.
