CAMBRIDGE POLICE INVESTIGATING SHOOTINGS ON BACK-TO-BACK NIGHTS IN SAME AREA
Cambridge, MD - In the early morning hours of July 20, 2024, Cambridge police officers were dispatched to a potential shooting in the 800 block of Pine St in Cambridge, MD. The alarm was triggered by the city's Shot Spotter alert system, which identified multiple gunshots in the area.
On arrival, officers discovered evidence of a shooting, with blood on the roadway. They traced the blood trail back to a nearby residence on Moores Ave in Cambridge, MD.
At this location, officers found a 19-year-old male from Easton, MD, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. The officers promptly provided first aid, applying a tourniquet to the injury.
Dorchester County EMS was called to the scene and transported the victim to Tidal Health Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. His injuries were reported as non-life threatening. Officers also found multiple spent shell casings at the shooting scene.
Further investigations revealed that the victim had been at an Easton bar earlier in the evening and had been dropped off in Cambridge afterward. The victim reported hearing around 5 gunshots before realizing he had been shot. He also indicated the presence of a black SUV, possibly an Acura, driving nearby at the time of the shooting.
It remains unclear whether this vehicle was involved in the incident.
The next night, on July 21, 2024, at approximately 9:07 pm, Cambridge Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Pine St for a "Shot Spotter Alert" for a report of multiple shots fired. This was 2 blocks away from the shooting previously discussed.
Upon the officer's arrival, they located six spent 9mm shell casings from the intersection of Pine St and North Drive in Cambridge, MD. At this time, there are no victims and officers were unable to locate any property damage as a result of the gunfire.
