CAMBRIDGE POLICE ARRESTS WANTED MAN AFTER FOOT PURSUIT
Cambridge, MD-The Cambridge Police Department successfully apprehended a suspect who was wanted on an active warrant. On May 9, 2024, at approximately 9:35 AM, police officers were in the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue, searching for a subject wanted on active arrest warrants.
When officers arrived, a man was observed that matched the description of the wanted individual that police were looking for. That individual was identified as La'Quante William Wright, a 35-year-old from Hurlock, Maryland. Upon seeing the officers, Wright attempted to escape on foot but was detained after a chase.
Wright was wanted on an active bench warrant issued by the Anne Arundel County District Court for not appearing in court on January 18, 2024. The court appearance was originally due to charges of driving without a license.
While following the path of Wright's attempted escape, officers found a plastic bag containing approximately 20 grams of what appeared to be Crack Cocaine. Wright was also found to possess a significant amount of United States currency when searched incident to arrest.
After his apprehension, Wright was transported to the Cambridge Police Department for his initial court appearance. Upon completion, he was handed over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections and is being held without the option of bail.
