CAMBRIDGE MAN WHO LED SALISBURY POLICE ON PURSUIT FOUND GUILTY AND SENTENCED FOR DRUG OFFENSES
Wicomico County, MD - Dorron Taylor, a 31-year-old man from Cambridge, Maryland, has been convicted and sentenced for one count of possession of a large amount of fentanyl and one count of possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.
On October 29, 2024, Taylor pleaded guilty to these charges before the Honorable Karen M. Dean, Associate Judge for the Circuit Court for Wicomico County.
Judge Dean accepted the plea and, on November 25, delivered a sentence of fifteen years of incarceration, with all but five years being suspended. The five years of active incarceration is a mandatory minimum sentence without parole.
The charges against Taylor arose from a May 17, 2024 incident, during which Salisbury City Police Department officers attempted a traffic stop on Taylor's vehicle. Following a brief pursuit, Taylor was apprehended, and a search of his vehicle uncovered large amounts of fentanyl, cocaine, cannabis, and drug paraphernalia.
Wicomico County State's Attorney Jamie L. Dykes praised the Salisbury City Police Department for their role in the investigation and vowed to continue to pursue those who illegally distribute dangerous drugs on the streets of Wicomico County. Dykes also recognized the efforts of Senior Assistant State's Attorney Patrizia J. Coletta in prosecuting the case.
