Cambridge, MD - On November 8, 2024, Cambridge Police Department (CPD) Officers and Detectives were dispatched to investigate a sexual assault and a subject with a firearm at a local Walmart store.

According to the female victim's report, a male individual, whom she described as an African American male in his early twenties, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with a husky build, followed her around the store. The victim attempted to distance herself from the individual and went to a different aisle.

A short time later, the victim felt something rub against her buttocks, and when she turned to look, she observed the same male subject that was following her around the store, was standing next to her with his penis exposed.

The victim began to scream to alert employees and other customers of the suspect's actions. At this time, the suspect began to leave the store.

The victim began following the suspect and screaming along the way, at which point the male retrieved a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the victim. There were Walmart employees in the area, who also observed the man pointing the gun at the victim.

CCTV footage from the store was examined by the Cambridge Police Department (CPD) Officers and Detectives on the scene, which corroborated the victim's statement. The suspect can be seen following the victim around the store, then attempting to touch her inappropriately on multiple times, and then exposing himself.

The man then brandished a firearm when the victim screamed for assistance and tried to draw attention to the situation. The suspect was seen exiting the store and fleeing in a silver passenger car, believed to be a later model Ford Focus with a sunroof.

Officers who reviewed the CCTV footage identified the suspect as Zion Na'Jon Stevenson, an 18-year-old from Cambridge, MD. The next day, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's car due to a malfunctioning brake light.

Upon stopping the vehicle, officers observed the operator of the vehicle matched the description of the suspect in the sexual assault incident at the Walmart.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Stevenson, who was then taken into custody for the incident. During his arrest, a black Airsoft Pistol was discovered in the door pocket of his vehicle. Stevenson later confessed to the offenses, except for exposing himself.

Stevenson was charged with the following:

  • Assault 1st Degree
