CAMBRIDGE MAN ARRESTED FOR CHASING SUBJECT WITH A MACHETE
Cambridge, MD - On April 3, 2024, Cambridge Police Department officers intervened in a dangerous physical disturbance in the 200 block of Byrn Street in Cambridge, Maryland.
A subject identified as Hobart Rusty Tyler, 42, from Cambridge, was reported to be chasing another person with a machete. The victim revealed they were not only threatened but also assaulted physically, with Tyler having punched them.

It was discovered that Tyler was in the residence with a small child at the time of the incident. Responding officers reported hearing the child crying and Tyler's angry screams before they forced entry into the residence.
Upon entering, they apprehended Tyler and ensured the safety of the child, who, thankfully, was found unharmed. Witnesses at the scene validated the victim's account, further strengthening the case against Tyler.
A machete was found at the scene, adding a terrifying reality to the victim's claims. Tyler was transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing and his initial court appearance.
He was subsequently handed over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections without bail.

- Reckless Endangerment
- Theft Less Than $100
- Dangerous Weapon Intent to Injure
